My shell is called a tulip snail, or Tulip shell is the common name for two or three species of large, predatory, subtropical and tropical sea snails from the Western Atlantic. These species are in the genus Fasciolaria. They are marine gastropod mollusks in the family Fasciolariidae, the spindle shells, tulip shells and their allies.

The shell is found normallly on the north carolina coast and also the gulf coast of texas, It is also found in the west indis and brazil. The shell has a fusiform outline with a smooth surface and shows fine growth lines. It is mostly white to tan in color and has rows of darker brownish blotchs all over. The shell of an adult tulip snail can be from 2.5" to 9.5" long. My shell is 5.5" long

The week of February 1st

During the week we did contour line drawings of a model. we started out drawing 30 sec gestures which would change every 30 sec. Then we went to minute long poses. I felt a little lost at first but once i warmed up, i felt a lot more comfortable and the charcoal starting flowing out some decent drawings. We eventually started doing 30 min drawings which included cross sectioning of the human body. We started out by finding the center (spine) and working are way out to a contour drawing then we included up to 4 cross contour lines to show the flow of the body across the drawing. Overall this week went just fine!

Blind Contour drawing

My process was quite plain and simple. Start with the models head and work my way down. I was focusing on how the models arm laid across her body and my marks tend to show that as i repeated them over a couple of times.
My drawing in three words=sketchy, hurried, and dark

Here is some of my recent artwork

INTRODUCTION

Hi,
My Name is Cory Roehl and I'm currently a student studying industrial design at the University of Wisconsin-Stout.
I have a passion for design, machining, fabrication, technology and automobiles.
I have 3 years of work experience as a application/design engineer for CNC Solutions LLC in Watertown, WI www.cncsolutionsllc.com
CNC Solutions LLC is an Automation design company which engineers and integrates automation setups with CNC Machines for a wide variety of businesses throughout the midwest.
There I did a broad range of work. I would take a problem or idea from a job and come up with a solution, design components and various other parts using Solidworks and Autocad. I would then produce part prints for fabrication and machining. I also Machined most of the components we developed or engineered using lathes, mills and CNC machines. I would then travel to customers and install these components inside of CNC Machines and automation cells.
I have experience alot of different areas of expertise with engineering, fabrication, machining, installation, customer service and all aspects of running a business.

I have a passion for automobiles. I recently restored a 1980 CJ7 Jeep from the ground up. I did a frame off restoration and almost removed every bolt in the entire vehicle to replace parts and add upgrades.
Here is the finish product

Now I'm here at UW-Stout to become an Industrial Designer to pursue my dream of creating products.
Im in my Junior year after returning back to school a year and a half ago.
I love being in art classes and having the option of being creative and a problem solver.
Im currently taking classes in Art history, pschology, Design theory and Methods, and Life Drawing 1.
I look forward to Life drawing to expand my horizons to more organic shapes and get away from the squared up engineered mind of drawing geometric shapes.
